LG Optimus G E970 Reviews

LG Optimus G Review at Engadget

The Optimus G is a phenomenal piece of hardware that combines refined design, superb build quality and specs to die for. Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro provides gobs of performance without sacrificing battery life. While LG's 4.7-inch True HD IPS PLUS panel is beautiful, it still ranks behind HTC's gorgeous Super LCD 2 display on the One X. Despite that pesky continuous autofocus, both 13 and 8-megapixel cameras are capable of capturing top-notch photos and usable videos. Where the Optimus G falls short is in the software department -- LG's UI 3.0 skin is mediocre and Ice Cream Sandwich is somewhat disappointing on such a great handset. Apparently, there's an Optimus G-based Nexus phone running Jelly Bean in the works -- problem solved, then. Read more...

The LG Optimus G ($199.99) has all the makings of a killer smartphone. From its 4.7-inch 720p display to its quad-core processor, this is definitely the fastest smartphone on AT&T, and one of the nicest looking, too. Its 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor turned in the fastest benchmarks we've ever seen on an Android phone—even faster than the model we tested on Sprint. And 4G LTE speeds on AT&T were positively smoking. Unfortunately, all that speed makes for some overheating issues, and camera performance is average at best. The Optimus G is a beast of a phone, but it isn't perfect. Read more...

Thanks to powerful hardware and (some) 4G service, the Optimus G is most capable smartphone LG has ever produced. Media, games, web browsing and even Google Maps all benefit from that large and ever-so sharp display. Only a few things stand in the way of a more enthusiastic endorsement of Sprint's Optimus G. First, the phone is huge, not so heavy but a whopping 5-inches tall. Big phones aren't for everyone, but for those who like a larger handset, the Optimus G deserves to be on your radar. The Optimus G isn't just the first phone on AT&T to feature a quad-core processor. It's also LG's first legitimate competitor against the Samsung Galaxy S III, the iPhone 5 and other premium smartphones. LG additionally packs this 4.7-inch device with a slew of innovative features focused on performing a number of tasks simultaneously. Throw in AT&T's smoking-fast 4G LTE speed and an eye-popping HD display, and you've got a lean, mean multitasking machine. Read on to discover why the Optimus G is the best device the company has ever made. Read more...

LG Optimus G Review at CNET

With its speedy innards, LTE data speeds, and stunning screen, the LG Optimus G is one of LG's best handsets so far, but it can't escape its weak battery and camera. Yet even though it reaches for the top, the Optimus G still fails to offer anything truly innovative or wowing, apart from the chipset. The Optimus G's design is pleasant and functional, but uninspired. Its 8-megapixel camera is weaker than those of the top-tier competition, and its battery life is insufficient given the demands of the phone's bright screen and performance. (Sprint's Optimus G version is arguably the better device, thanks to its crisper 13-megapixel camera.) Read more...

I'm impressed with how much LG has improved its handsets. The Optimus G represents LG's comeback in the mobile phone market. LG always seemed to lurk in Samsung's shadow, but the Optimus G is a solid phone that can stand on its own. Both versions of the phone are very good, though the Sprint version has a slight edge in that it offers better design and provides a more organized way of navigating the device's screens and menus.
