Amazon is finally launching the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablets in India. The Kindle Fire HD features a 7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz TI OMAP4460 CPU, while the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" has a 8.9-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) display with a dual-core 1.5 GHz TI OMAP4470 processor. Both the tablets have Dolby certified dual-stereo speakers as well as dual-band Wi-Fi with two antennae (MIMO) for better reception. The only caveat is that although being an Android based tablet, you do not have access to the Play Store, but instead can download apps from the Amazon App Store.

- Battery life: upto 10 hours
The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7-inch and Fire HD 8.9-inch tablets have been priced at Rs. 15999 and Rs. 21999 for the 16GB models while you would have to shell out Rs. 18,999 and Rs. 25,999 for the 32GB versions. All these variants will be available on Amazon.in beginning June 27.
