Facebook Messenger Compulsory

Facebook is planning to remove chat and messaging features from its main app. Instead users will be forced to your its standalone Messenger app. The switch will take place over the next two weeks with a new update. Mark Zuckerberg said the following as to the reason why users would have to install another app just to get the same functionality the main Facebook app always provided:

The reason why we're doing that is we found that having it as a second-class thing inside the Facebook app makes it so there's more friction to replying to messages, so we would rather have people be using a more focused experience for that.

Alright, I would agree that this might actually make the main Facebook app lighter, faster and easier to use all the while consuming less memory as well. There are certain benefits to a standalone messaging app as well especially one that comes with integrated voice calling and completely focused at one task. So, take the jump before Facebook forces you to and download Messenger on your Android or iOS device.
