Google Camera Standalone App Play Store

Google has launched its standalone camera app in the Play Store, simply called the Google Camera. The app looks quite different from the camera app currently shipping with Android 4.4 KitKat. The interface is cleaner with focus on the images you are taking rather than settings available. There's a prominent shutter button and that's just about it.

Various available modes are tucked away on the left which can be brought forth with just a swipe and that also brings up the settings icon. There's a new Lens Blur options as well which lets you capture "SLR-like photos" offering depth of field, meaning you can focus on a close or macro object blurring the background. PhotoSphere is back and the viewfinder now uses the complete display, so whatever you see on the viewfinder is exactly what will be saved as the final image.

Motorola Camera Vs Google Camera

The Google Camera UI although doesn't look anything like the Motorola Camera app, but functions like it. You have the various modes on the left which can be brought forth with a swipe from the left and the gallery or Photos app in this respect, with a swipe from the right.

The app is right now available from the Play Store but only for phones and tablets running Android 4.4 KitKat and above. We will be taking the Google Camera App for a test run and compare the results. Stay tuned.
