Htc Nexus 9

Earlier this morning reports started coming in that HTC was in talks with Google to ink a deal where they would be making Nexus devices for the next 3 years.

According to sources, HTC has signed a 3-year contract deal with Google to make Nexus devices which may include both smartphones and tablets. There has been some talk circulating that Google plans to launch two Nexus devices this year and both would be made by HTC, this does lend a little credibility to previous rumors.

LG has officially backed out out of the Nexus program following the disappointing Nexus 5X and the company said in a statement that they needed to focus on their own brand at the moment. So, this lends even more credibility to the report and we may see the first HTC Nexus smartphones this year.

Now, HTC already has made a few Nexus devices. In-fact they made the first ever Nexus device, the Nexus One, giving the brand its lease of life. Then came the Nexus 9 tablet.

At present though there is no confirmation on this report from neither Google nor HTC. But if true, this would be the first time that Google has signed a 3-year long-term contract for the Nexus program.
