Cyanogen 12 Yu Yureka

YU has started rolling out Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Cyanogen OS 12 update for the YU Yureka. If you haven't received the OTA update, this post is for you. We have created an instructional video with a first look at CM12 update for the YU Yureka, you can have a look at it below:

Instructional Video

Here are the instructions on installing Android 5.0 Lollipop Cyanogen OS 12 OTA update for the YU Yureka. This is an official OTA update to Cyanogen OS version 12.0-YNG1TAS0W0, so your warranty remains intact and you will receive future OTA updates from Cyanogen, moreover you don't need to root your device. You can update to Lollipop on the YU Yureka with your Stock Recovery.

We have tested out this update and it works great, but do remember that there is always a risk with updates even official ones. If you brick your device, you would be responsible for it. Moreover, you won't be able to downgrade to Android KitKat once the update is done, even by installing the stock ROM. This is a one time upgrade.

Preparation

  • Download the OTA update file on your PC : YU Yureka CM12 OTA Update File
  • Download WinMD5 on your PC and run it with Administrator privileges.
  • Browse to the update file, let the app get the MD5 Checksum for the update file, enter this "d8b8fdbfe0796b0f8f2f370526a5841a" and verify.
  • If matched then place the file in your phone's internal storage and charge your phone to atleast 50%.
  • Power down your phone and disconnect any accessories.

Installation

  1. Once your phone has powered down, press the volume up, volume down and power button together (yes, all three).
  2. You can move in stock recovery with the volume keys and Select using Power button (you can also tap to select, this recovery is touch enabled)
  3. Select Apply Update
  4. Select Choose from internal storage
  5. Move to 0/ with volume down button and press power button to select.
  6. Select the downloaded Zip file "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS0W0-tomato-signed.zip" and the ROM would start flashing on your device, you would now see the animated Android Logo with a progress bar at the bottom.
  7. Be patient this will take some time.
  8. Once installation is done, on the main recovery page select Wipe Cache partition, this may take quite a while depending upon how many apps you have installed.
  9. Then select Reboot system now.
  10. First boot will again take some time depending on how many apps you have installed, be patient.

Achievement

Once done, you will be running Cyanogen OS 12 on your YU Yureka flavored with Android Lollipop.

The time that I have spent with the update, it felt polished. I haven't noticed any crashes till now, the UI is smooth, performance is also good. I played some basic games and they too worked well. But I will be testing the update through this week and then get back to you with a final verdict. So stay tuned to PhoneBunch.
