Windows 10 Phone Continuum

At its Build Keynote, Microsoft unveiled continuum for phones. The new feature will allow your Windows Phone to turn into a full Desktop PC. Microsoft had already debuted Windows 10 transforming between Tablets and Desktop PC but now we have the same for phones.

This would be possible through Windows Universal apps. Microsoft will be giving tools to developers to create apps that run on PCs, tablets, smartphones and XBOX. Apps would be able to adapt to different screen sizes, work with mouse and keyboard. Joe Belfiore showed off Excel and Photos running in Desktop mode from a Windows Phone.

What we're trying to show here today, is our unique vision for phones and enabling them to scale up to a full PC-like experience.

However, not all devices which are upgraded to Windows 10 will get this feature since this is hardware dependent. Belfiore pointed out that Continuum for phones with require new devices capable of using dual-screen feature which will come out after Windows 10 is officially launched.
