Microsoft's 5-inch Lumia 640 and 5.7-inch Lumia 640 XL budget Windows Phones are here

The new Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are here. Both feature quad-core Snapdragon processor have 720p resolution displays and come at budget price but differ in display size and cameras.

The Lumia 640 is the smaller variant and comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display, quad-core Snapdragon 400 with 1 GB RAM running Windows Phone 8.1 and upgradable to Windows 10. There's a large 2500 mAh battery to keep things running. The Lumia 640 gets a 8 MP rear shooter with dynamic flash, auto HDR and a wide-angle front camera.


It will be available in single-SIM and dual-SIM flavors alongwith either 3G or 4G LTE support based on region of launch. The Lumia 640 has also been priced, you will be able to get the 3G variant for $155 (or Rs. 8300 or EUR 139) and the 4G LTE variant for $177 (about Rs. 11,000 or EUR 159). As with all Lumia devices you can get the Lumia 640 in a variety of colors. It will be available starting April.


Microsoft Lumia 640 XL

Just as the name goes, the Lumia 640 XL gets a bump in the display and the camera department. You have a 5.7-inch HD 720p display on the Lumia 640 XL and a 13 MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics. There's a bigger 3000 mAh battery in there as well and it is powered by the same Snapdragon 400 chipset as the smaller Lumia 640.

It too will be available in 3G and 4G LTE variants with optional dual-SIM support. The Lumia 640 XL with 3G has been priced at $211 (about Rs. 13,000 or EUR 189) and for 4G LTE $245 (about Rs. 15000 or EUR 219). It will be available starting April as well.
