Microsoft Surface 3

Microsoft has just announced an affordable Surface tablet, the Surface 3 powered by a quad-core Intel X7 (Cherry Trail) processor with 10.8-inch (1920x1280 pixels) full-HD display. There are quite a few variants available for the new Surface 3 which start from $499. All of these have the same display, 8 MP rear auto-focus camera, 3.5 MP front-camera, Dolby-enhanced stereo speakers and run full Windows 8.1 OS (not Windows RT) which is upgradable to Windows 10 for free.

The Surface 3 is thinner at 8.7mm and also weighs in less at 622 grams. There will be an LTE variant available as well with a nano-SIM card slot alongwith GPS capability.

Here are all the variants and their prices:

  • Surface 3 Wi-Fi, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB - $499
  • Surface 3 Wi-Fi, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB - $599
  • Surface 3 LTE, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB - $599
  • Surface 3 LTE, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB - $699

Now all these prices don't include the Stylus nor the Type-cover which will still have to be purchased separately. The Pen stylus can be purchased for $50 in silver, red, blue and black colors while the Type cover is going for $130 in the same color scheme.

The Surface 3 will be available though Microsoft Stores, Microsoft Store online and select retailers, beginning May 5. It will go on sale in 26 markets worldwide by May 7. LTE variants will be available later around June 26th.
