Moto G 2014 Marshmallow Update

Motorola has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto G (2014) in India. We had already known that a soak test was underway and it seems not many bugs were uncovered during this time.

The Lenovo owned company has been quite regular with software updates on all its devices. Its current line-up has already been updated to Android Marshmallow which includes the Moto G3, Moto G3 Turbo Edition, Moto X Play, Moto X Style.

The Moto G 2014 variant was launched running Android 4.4 KitKat, and was updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop last year in January. But instead of working on Android 5.1 update, Motorola decided to jump straight to Marshmallow.

Next up on the list of devices to get Marshmallow update is the Moto E (2nd-gen) 4G, but it will be available in only a few regions. You can read more about the back and forth on this here.

Getting back to the Moto G (2014), the OTA update weighs in at about 464MB and should be downloaded over WiFi. If you haven't received an update notification yet, just hold on a bit longer as it is being rolled out gradually to all devices.
