Myntra is shutting down its online website come May 1st and the company which was acquired by Flipkart in May last year will be a mobile-app only retailer. There will be no online store or mobile store for Myntra after May 1st, just the Mobile app.
The move to be an app-only retailer is bold, but Myntra says that 80% of its traffic comes from its mobile app which amount to 70% sales. Although at present this is just a report on the future of Myntra, there will be a huge marketing and advertising campaign to get people accustomed to the idea.
Flipkart may also decide to go the app-only way after seeing what this transition for Myntra looks like.
