Samsung announces affordable premium A series smartphones with the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5

Galaxy A5

Samsung has just announced its new metal clad Galaxy A series starting with the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. The Galaxy A5 is the slimmer device at just 6.7mm and comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display while the Galaxy A3 makes do with a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED display in an equally svelte 6.9mm metal frame.

Both phones are powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with LTE support running Android 4.4 KitKat. Coming to cameras, the Galaxy A5 has a 13 MP primary shooter while the A3 has a 8 MP rear camera. There's a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera on both.

Galaxy A3

Both the Galaxy A5 and the Galaxy A3 come with 16 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 64 GB with a microSD card slot. The Galaxy A5 has a larger 2300 mAh battery and the Galaxy A3 has a 1900 mAh unit. Connectivity options include optional 4G LTE support, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS support and NFC (only LTE variant). Color options include Pearl White, Platinum Silver, Light Blue, Midnight Black, Soft Pink and Champagne Gold. It is expected to be available in the first half of November.
