Samsung has just gone official with the Galaxy Alpha which features an incredibly thin 6.7mm thin metal frame. Other specs point to a mid-range device with a 4.7-inch HD (720x1280 Pixels) display running on the Octa-core Exynos 5430 processor comprised of four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz. There's 2 GB RAM onboard with 32 GB storage which is expandable upto 128 GB. The Galaxy Alpha runs Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box.

There's a 12 MP primary camera with LED flash at the back capable of recording 4K video alongwith a 2.1 MP camera in the front. Samsung has also packed the Galaxy Alpha with its flagship features like a fingerprint scanner as well as heart-rate monitor. The Galaxy Alpha is the spearhead of a new design language from the company which looks both luxurious as well as stylish at the same time.

Connectivity options on the Galaxy Alpha include 4G LTE-A/3G HSPA+ depending on region, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and NFC. The Galaxy Alpha features a 1860 mAh battery which according to previous leaks might be removable.


The Galaxy Alpha will be available in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver and Scuba Blue colors when it goes on sale in over 150 countries starting in September. At present there is no word on pricing.
