Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy J7 Prime in India, even though the phone has now been available through offline stores for the last one week. The Galaxy J7 Prime (SM-G610F) variant in India comes with a 5.5-inch TFT display which is covered in 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 4 and Exynos 7870 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM, 16GB storage.
There's Android 6.0 Marshmallow running on the phone with a more streamlined TouchWiz interface similar to what we have seen on the Galaxy S7. The major change from previous-gen Galaxy J series devices is the build and then there's the fingerprint sensor up front as well. This time around we are getting a unibody metal construction with a non-removable back-cover.
There's a 13 megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture here and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. Even though the J7 Prime is quite svelte at 8.1mm, it packs a 3300 mAh battery and comes with a separate microSD card slot to expand storage. It is a dual-SIM 4G LTE capable smartphone with VoLTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and FM Radio.

Rounding back to design, the phone resembles Samsung's new China exclusive Galaxy C series. The switch to a 5.5-inch 1080p TFT display is a bit bizarre given that the hallmark of the Galaxy J series was a Super AMOLED display even at budget pricing. The Galaxy J7 Prime is already available through offline retailers in India at an MOP of Rs. 18790 and MRP Rs. 19400. It comes in gold and black colors. Online it would be exclusively sold through Flipkart, similar to other Galaxy J series devices.
