Samsung Z3 India

Samsung Z3 has gone official today at its global launch in India. The Tizen OS running smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Spreadtrum processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB expandable storage and dual-SIM support.

The story with the Samsung Z3 is not just about specs though, Samsung is focusing more on the services it has to offer with the Z3. Therefore, the company today also announced My Galaxy and Mix Radio for its Tizen and Android smartphones. The My Galaxy app is a deals and offers aggregator with partners like PayTM, BookMyShow, Amazon.in which would give users personalized deals based on the usage of their smartphone. Moreover you will get Lifetime free subscription of MixRadio, which has over 30 million tracks to stream.

As I wrote earlier, My Galaxy app is now available on Tizen store as well as the Play Store alongwith the Mix Radio app (it was available earlier as well on Play Store.)

Coming back to the Samsung Z3, it is a dual-SIM 3G smartphone and packs a 2600 mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving mode. To save on data, the company has also put in the Ultra Data Saving mode which was launched with the Galaxy J2. The Samsung Z3 has a 8MP rear camera, 5MP front-camera for selfies as well. This time around it has GPS as well.

But TizenOS still lacks apps, and the asking price of Rs. 8490 doesn't sit well for the customer Samsung is aiming for, people moving from feature phones to smartphones. The Z3 is overpriced, but its not about the specs, its more about an inferior ecosystem with very few third party apps that people actually use. Moreover, Samsung has the Grand Prime, Galaxy J2 priced similarly which offer a more full-featured Android OS.

For those still interested, and I would love to know why (in comments), the Samsung Z3 will be available in gold, silver and black colors priced at Rs. 8490 in India. It will go on sale from offline retailers and online exclusively on Snapdeal starting October 21st.
