Windows 10 Is Here

Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 10 free upgrade in 190 countries for existing Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 users who reserved the update earlier. If you haven't got the update notification yet or haven't reserved it, there's still time. You can reserve it today as well. Windows 10 will be rolled out gradually to all users starting today, so it might take a little time for your system to get the update and did I mention its free?

Windows 10 Cortana

Windows 10 is bringing a lot of new features to the table, and doing away with some of the horrors of Windows 8.1, while making others bearable.

Windows 10 Virtual Desktops

Major new additions include Cortana Voice Assistant integration, Microsoft Edge browser, Virtual Desktops, better Snapview with Snap Assist which shows all open apps so that they can be set side-by-side, updated Photos, Music, Maps, People, Mail and Calendar Universal apps which share same design/UX as their mobile/tablet counterparts alongwith Windows Hello for secure access to your Windows device.

Windows 10 Edge Browser

Continuum also arrives with Windows 10 making the transition between a mobile/desktop as seamless as possible. Microsoft has also built a Phone Companion app which enabled iPhones, Android and Windows Phones to work/sync with Windows 10 devices effortlessly.

A single-point for access to your Windows 10 device. Universal Office Mobile apps are also making their way and will be available for Windows 10 running tablets starting today from the Windows Store.


Microsoft also had some of its Windows Insider program members on stage, who have helped shape Windows 10. We heard some first-hand experience from some of the insiders as to how they helped realize Windows 10's full potential and solving quirky UI issues that came with Windows 8. They explained how the tablet mode was conceptualized and the full-screen Start menu was let-go. There are several nifty additions which made to the final build thanks to this huge community of Windows 10 fans and enthusiasts of over 5.5 Million users.

Windows Insider Program

There are several editions of Windows 10: Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education. You should choose one based on your requirements, we'll have more information on their differences soon. ISOs are also available if you want to make a clean install of Windows 10 on your device, and it would be activated automatically if you sign in with the same Microsoft account which you are using with Windows 7/8/8.1. But I would still keep the Product Key handy.
