Xiaomi announces "Make In India" smartphone, Redmi 2 Prime with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage priced at Rs. 6999

Redmi 2 Prime 2gb Launched

Xiaomi today launched its first "Make In India" smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime which is an updated variant of the Redmi 2 with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage. The highlight of the launch was that the Redmi 2 Prime is being manufactured in India by FoxConn in its Sri City facility in Andhra Pradesh.


This is the second Xiaomi plant outside China, after Brazil. Xiaomi further added that it took 3 times less time for the clearance process to get the plant started given the great impetus to the "Make In India" campaign by our government.


Coming back to the Redmi 2 Prime, it comes with the same 4.7-inch 720p IPS display protected by Asahi DragonTrail glass, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor with dual-SIM 4G LTE support on both Indian bands of 1800 MHz and 2300 MHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage expandable upto 32GB via microSD card slot. It has a 8MP front and 2MP rear camera as well alongwith a 2200 mAh battery to keep things going.


The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is priced at Rs. 6999 is would be available starting today from Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal alongwith Mi.com and other Mi India partners.
