Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi 4 tomorrow in India, but there is news from China that the Redmi 2 has now been upgraded with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage up from the 1GB/8GB combination it was launched with.

Xiaomi in its invitation says we hit a 4 and a 6 (Mi 4 & Redmi 2), which might hint at a launch of the Redmi 2 in India as well. Xiaomi has probably sold all the back stock of the Redmi 1S in India and the time is ripe to launch another budget device for the market.

In terms of specs the Redmi 2 runs on the new 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU but comes with the same 4.7-inch HD IPS display. The new Snapdragon 410 processor is based on the Cortex-A53 architecture which is about 1.5 times faster than Cortex-A7 found on the previous-gen Redmi 1S. Moreover, the Redmi 2 runs on MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
