Xiaomi Fifth Anniversary Event

Xiaomi is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its inception. Its quite unbelievable considering what the company has come to arrive in the five short years. Xiaomi is now the number one smartphone manufacturer in China and is third globally. Considering that Xiaomi currently only sells devices in Asia this is a huge achievement.

Xiaomi is planning to dive into other markets soon after consolidating its stronghold in markets like India. Recently the company partnered with "The Mobile Store" to sell the Redmi Note 4G and Mi 4 in 55 offline stores in the Delhi NCR region, a first for the company in India.

Well that's enough of what Xiaomi has done so far, and here's what we have to look forward to in the coming months. Celebrating its fifth-year anniversary Xiaomi unveiled quite a lot of products in China today. Here are some of them:

Xiaomi Redmi 2A

The Redmi 2A is the less-costlier version of the Redmi 2 and comes with a Leadcore LC1860C Quad-core processor (Cortex-A7) with Mali-T628MP2 GPU instead of the Snapdragon 410 found on the Redmi 2. The rest of the specs remain the same including 4G LTE support, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM, 4.7-inch HD IPS display and a 2200 mAh battery.

The Redmi 2A will sell for 100 Yuan cheaper at 599 Yuan (about Rs. 6000) in China and at present there is no word when its going to be available.

Pink Xiaomi Mi Note (Goddess Edition)

Now this is just a new color variant to appeal to Women. The Xiaomi Mi Note in pink color shares the exact same specs as the white variant including a 5.7-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 3 GB RAM, 16 / 64 GB internal storage, 13 MP rear camera with OIS, 4 MP front camera running Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6.

Power Strip

Xiaomi's new Power Strip gets 3 2A USB charging ports and that's really what's intriguing to me.

Smart Scale

Xiaomi also unveiled a smart scale which is equipped with LED lights to tell you weight and also diagnose any issues with the device itself. You can connect the smart scale to your phone and it can track weight of up to 16 people.

It has been priced at 99 Yuan (about $16 or Rs. 1000) which is pretty aggressive but we are used to that from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi also announced the 55-inch Mi TV2 as well as a few other accessories for its Mi line-up. The event is still on, we might see some more developments.
