Just this morning Karbonn teased a new phone for September 15 release, same day Google's Android One announcement will be made in India. Micromax Android One smartphone will be available exclusively through Amazon.in while Spice will launch it exclusively on Flipkart. Karbonn has a similar deal with Snapdeal.
Micromax didn't leave anything to the imagination with its teaser saying, "Can refresh with the Smartest ONE", clearly hinting at an Android One smartphone. While Spice was more coy saying "Hold your breath for something amazing coming your way."
At this year's Google I/O, the company revealed some specs of the reference design on which all Android handsets will be based. So you can expect all three smartphones to feature similar specifications including a 4.5-inch display, MediaTek processor, primary camera and a microSD card slot priced at about Rs. 6000. Google is keeping a strict tab at this program, meaning software updates will be swift.
