Earlier in the year, we had reported that Google was working on two Android Wear smartwatches, and now it has been confirmed that the company plans to launch two Android Wear 2.0 flagship smartwatches (high priced) next year.

However, unlike the Pixel smartphones, these watches will carry the brand name that is making these watches for Google.

Now, coming back to what we have heard before, the larger Angelfish smartwatch will come with a 43.5mm watch dial and will support LTE connectivity, GPS, and a heart rate sensor. It will be a standalone watch that can work without being tethered to your smartphone. The second one, Swordfish would come with a 42mm diameter and will be less thick as well. Both will come with a single button on the side to power on the device or customized to launch apps. Read More: Android Wear 2.0 will be a major overhaul of the platform, coming in 2017

Android Wear 2.0 has been developing at a very sluggish pace, and by the end of this year Motorola too said they were not very keen on a Moto 360 upgrade, LG too seems to have given up on smartwatches for now. Huawei is being reported to be working on a smartwatch running rival Samsung's Tizen OS and well, the Gear S3 is just hitting some regions.

After the demise of Pebble, failure of most Android Wear smartwatches, the future looks bleak. At a time like this, Google is thinking of bringing premium smartwatches to the market, something just isn't here.
