HUAWEI has launched its latest true wireless earbuds, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 7 in China alongside the HUAWEI Watch 6 series. The FreeBuds 7 adopts HUAWEI’s Yuezhang Star Ring design and weighs just 4.3g per earbud. Compared with the previous-generation model, the earbuds are 12% lighter and 15% smaller, while the charging case has been reduced in size by 25% and weight by 17%. HUAWEI has also increased the battery energy density by 20%.
HUAWEI says it analysed data from more than 10,000 human ears along with tens of millions of ear-shape data points to improve the fit. Based on this research, the company has reduced average wearing pressure by 19% and shifted the center of gravity 17% inward toward the sound outlet for improved stability and comfort. It is available in Sunlight Orange, Midsummer Purple, Moonlight White, and Starry Black.
Adaptive ANC and Call Quality
The FreeBuds 7 is powered by a third-generation Audio AI chip featuring dual DSPs and an NPU, delivering twice the general computing power of its predecessor. The chip can sample environmental noise up to 400,000 times per second, with processing latency as low as 8 microseconds.

The chip works alongside an upgraded AI adaptive ANC algorithm, dedicated acoustic architecture, low-noise microphones, and a custom high-fidelity full-range driver. The noise cancellation system automatically adjusts according to how tightly the earbuds are worn and the surrounding noise environment, helping minimize sounds such as office conversations, traffic, snoring, and other ambient disturbances.
Compared with the previous generation, HUAWEI claims:
- 2.3x greater average noise cancellation depth
- 275% higher maximum noise cancellation bandwidth
- 750% faster noise cancellation convergence
For voice calls, the earbuds use a three-microphone system combined with bone-conduction pickup, VPU, NPU, and DNN-based noise reduction technologies. The system supports up to 100dB two-way call noise cancellation and wind-noise resistance of up to 8m/s. Call noise reduction works across HarmonyOS, iOS, and Android devices.
Audio
The FreeBuds 7 incorporates HUAWEI’s Yuezhang Audio Quality system, which combines a custom high-fidelity full-range driver with Turbo acoustic architecture.
- Frequency Response: 14Hz–48kHz
- Lossless Audio: 96kHz/24-bit
- Wireless Transmission: Up to 4.6Mbps
HUAWEI says three-band balance has been improved by 14%, while the independent DAC integrated into the third-generation Audio AI chip reduces the noise floor by 20%.
A Quadruple Adaptive EQ system dynamically adjusts the audio according to volume level, wearing condition, surrounding environment, and individual ear canal characteristics.
The earbuds also support independent Spatial Audio with head tracking across compatible devices and content platforms. Distributed dual-frequency antennas improve anti-interference performance by 78% and provide a connection range of up to 200 metres in open spaces.
AI, Recording, and Translation
The FreeBuds 7 introduces an AI agent, Smart Audio Notifications, and Intelligent Message Summarization. It can deliver notifications for services such as ride-hailing, flight boarding, and food delivery, while also summarizing important information from multiple incoming messages.
For recording, the earbuds can capture phone calls and audio played through a connected device. When placed inside the charging case, they can also record surrounding voices for meetings, lectures, and interviews. AI-powered tools can subsequently transcribe, translate, and summarize the recorded content.
Translation capabilities include:
- Phone-to-Earbud translation
- Dual-Earbud translation
- Simultaneous interpretation
- Offline Chinese-English translation
Controls and Karaoke
The earbud stems support pinch, tap, slide, and long-press gestures for controlling music playback, calls, volume, recording, and noise cancellation. A dedicated AI Key can be used to activate the AI agent or start a voice memo.
The FreeBuds 7 also supports direct vocal monitoring for karaoke. Star Flash NearLink E2.0 enables low-latency connectivity for real-time vocal feedback, with karaoke compatibility for Huawei Music and Quanmin K Ge.
Connectivity and Other Features
The FreeBuds 7 supports Bluetooth 6.0, Star Flash NearLink E2.0, dual-device connectivity, and HarmonyOS Multi-Device Connection. Supported audio codecs include SBC, AAC, L2HC, and LDAC, while LHDC and Apt-X are not supported.

The Device Finder feature supports both online and offline tracking, offering distance and direction information, floor-level positioning, remote ringing, and left-behind alerts. Offline tracking needs to be enabled in advance.
Additional features include customizable connection pop-ups, IP55 dust and water resistance, pass-through mode, Hi-Res Audio, HWA, and low-latency audio. The AI Life app can be used to manage supported features on HarmonyOS, iOS, and Android devices.
Battery Life
Each earbud is equipped with a 48mAh battery, while the charging case houses a 460mAh battery. Battery endurance varies depending on whether users prioritize sound quality or connection stability.
With ANC enabled/disabled:
- Music – Sound Quality Priority: 4.5 hours / 7 hours
- Music – Stable Connection Priority: 5 hours / 8.5 hours
- Voice Calls: 3.5 hours / 4.5 hours
When combined with the charging case, music playback can reach up to 21/33 hours with ANC enabled/disabled in Sound Quality Priority mode, or 24/42 hours in Stable Connection Priority mode. For voice calls, total battery life reaches up to 16/21 hours with ANC enabled/disabled.
