HUAWEI has launched its latest flagship smartphone in the Mate 80 series, the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition in China. This new variant emphasizes enhanced cooling, outdoor-focused capabilities, and AI-driven features, while retaining the premium aesthetics and flagship performance of the Mate 80 Pro Max series.
Design and Durability -
The Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition showcases a dual-ring metallic design with finely engraved micro-textures. It incorporates a full-metal Xuanwu structural framework along with second-generation Kunlun Glass for improved resistance against drops, bending, and scratches. The device carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust protection.

Its WindChase Cooling Architecture combines a bionic wing-inspired turbine fan, superconducting curved fins, and concealed air outlets to deliver efficient thermal management with minimal noise, all while preserving ergonomic comfort.
Performance and Outdoor Capabilities -
Powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset and running on HarmonyOS 6.0, the smartphone includes an Extreme Endurance Mode capable of sustaining essential functions for up to 14 days.
Outdoor-oriented features include Petal Maps and Two Steps Assistant, offering access to more than 10,000 hiking routes. Key tools include 36-hour screen-off navigation, automatic waypoint recording, route trace-back, satellite weather updates, and Morse code-based SOS signaling.

For gaming, the device supports up to 90FPS gameplay, hardware-level ray tracing processing up to 30 million rays, and adaptive frame-rate optimization. The Ultra-Smooth Ark Engine with HyperSpace Memory enhances multitasking by extending effective RAM, enabling 16GB of physical memory to deliver performance comparable to 20GB for persistent background operations.
Display and Battery -
The smartphone features a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display with FHD+ resolution, adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. It supports 1.07 billion colors, HDR Vivid, automatic color temperature adjustment, and eye fatigue monitoring. Peak brightness reaches 8000 nits for improved outdoor visibility.
It is backed by a 6000mAh battery with 100W wired SuperCharge and 80W wireless SuperCharge support, along with reverse charging capability.
