Lava has partnered with Flipkart to introduce the new Lava Virat series, a smartphone lineup designed for online-first consumers in India. The collaboration combines Lava's in-house design and manufacturing expertise with Flipkart's extensive e-commerce platform and nationwide distribution network to bring Made-in-India smartphones to a wider audience.
Expanding Focus on Online Consumers
The Virat series represents Lava's strategic push into the online smartphone market, complementing its established presence in offline retail. According to the company, its online business grew by 74% in 2025, and the new partnership aims to build on that momentum by reaching consumers across metro cities as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.
By combining Lava's 17 years of experience in product design, quality control, and manufacturing with Flipkart's digital ecosystem, the companies aim to make Indian-built smartphones more accessible to customers across the country.
Product Positioning and Features
The upcoming Lava Virat series will cater to a wide range of users with smartphones priced from the sub-₹10,000 segment up to the ₹25,000 mid-range category. The lineup will include both 4G and 5G models to suit different user requirements.
While Lava has yet to reveal individual models or pricing, the company confirmed that the Virat series will focus on three key areas:
- Long Battery Life: Designed to deliver up to two days of usage on a single charge.
- AI Camera Features: Equipped with AI-powered imaging capabilities for improved photography.
- Reliable Performance: Optimized hardware aimed at delivering smooth performance across different price segments.
Partnership and Market Strategy
Lava and Flipkart said the collaboration extends beyond a traditional retail partnership. Both companies will work together on product planning, marketing, and distribution to establish the Virat series as a strong contender in India's competitive smartphone market.
Leveraging Flipkart's market insights, logistics network, and online reach, the partnership aims to connect domestic smartphone manufacturing with the country's growing base of digital-first consumers.
Lava is expected to announce the complete specifications, colour options, pricing, availability, and launch timeline for the Virat series in the coming weeks.
Sunil Raina, Managing Director of Lava International Ltd, said the company has spent over 17 years building smartphones that Indian consumers can trust. He added that the new Virat series continues this vision by delivering quality and reliability through its partnership with Flipkart, without compromising on the overall user experience.
Kanchan Mishra, Vice President – Mobiles at Flipkart, said the collaboration reinforces Flipkart's commitment to supporting Indian smartphone innovation. She noted that by combining Lava's manufacturing expertise with Flipkart's consumer insights and nationwide reach, the companies aim to make the Virat series accessible to millions of online buyers across India.
