 No 3.5mm Headphone Jack

Yes, LeEco is probably the first company that has killed the 3.5mm audio jack in its smartphones. Instead the company has come up with a new CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) codec for lossless audio through the USB Type-C port of the device.

That may irk some buyers who already have their favorite pair of 3.5mm headsets but we may see some adapters available in the future.

Now, there is a reason behind this change. Its mostly to do with audio quality or fidelity. The new CDLA technology allows for lossless audio playback, meaning you can get an almost perfect rendition of what you are playing on the device through a compatible headset. But for that the content should be recorded in a lossless format as well like FLAC.

We will see how this turns out and whether LeEco bundles a USB Type-C headset within the box when the phone comes to India.

The Le 2 has been priced at 1099 Yuan which roughly translates to about Rs. 11,200 or USD 320 while the LeEco Le 2 Pro will come in at 1399 Yuan for Helio X20 variant (about Rs. 14,300 or USD 210) and 1499 Yuan for the Helio X25 variant (about Rs. 15300 or USD 230).
