At IFA this year, Lenovo announced a unique 2-in-1 device, the Yoga Book. At first glance it looks like a typical tablet which is offered in both Android and Windows 10 flavors. But when you get closer, you see that it doesn't have a traditional keyboard but a capacitive touch one.

Getting to the build, it's an impressively thin device at just 9.6mm when closed tapering to just 4.05mm at its thinnest weighing only at 690 grams. The entire device is made of magnesium alloy to keep the weight in check and still make it sturdy.

There are two separate panels here, the top one is the display measuring in at 10.1-inches diagonally with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. The other is the "halo keyboard" which transforms into a full QWERTY backlit keyboard but it is capacitive and the glass has a soft matte finish so as to not attract fingerprints while typing. There is built-in text prediction and learning which adopts to the user's choice of word, vocabulary to make typing faster. You also get a pleasant haptic feedback to know that you have typed a letter, similar to what we see on our smartphones.

The Yoga Book has another trick up its sleeve, on turning the keyboard off the entire second panel becomes a touch sensitive digitizer and with the real-pen accessory (bundled with the tablet) you can draw and write on it. The wacom digitizer under the glass panel can understand upto 2048 pressure levels and 100-degree angle detection to make it a great option for artists.

That's not all, using real ink tips for the pen, you can write on a piece of paper and it would be instantaneously copied to the device. Moreover, given that this is a Yoga device, you can prop up the 2-in-1 in tent mode to watch movies, close it on the keyboard to use as a tablet or simply use it like a normal laptop.

The Yoga Book with Android will come in Gold and Gunmetal color options starting at 499 Euros ($550 or Rs. 37000 approx) while the Windows 10 Pro version in Carbon Black will start at 599 ($670 or Rs. 44700 approx) Euros. Both variants will be available later in September.
