Lumio has entered the home audio segment with the launch of the Lumio Aura 5 in India, an active Hi-Fi bookshelf speaker system. Designed to combine studio-inspired audio performance with everyday convenience, the Aura 5 integrates amplification and processing into the speakers, removing the requirement for a separate AV receiver, pre-amplifier, or external power amplifier.
Enclosure Design and Acoustic Architecture
The Aura 5 uses high-density composite wood for its cabinets, helping reduce cabinet resonance and limit unwanted internal acoustic reflections. Its front baffle features a curved ABS waveguide along with a convex contour designed to spread sound across a room, providing a wider listening area instead of restricting the optimal listening position to a narrow sweet spot.
Each speaker cabinet houses a two-way driver arrangement along with a front-facing bass port.
- The high-frequency section uses a 1-inch silk dome tweeter with a 4kHz crossover point, designed to reproduce high-frequency harmonics, transient details, and upper-range information.
- Handling the mid and lower frequencies is a 4.5-inch aluminium cone woofer with a rubber roll surround. The driver is designed to deliver quick transient response and controlled reproduction of percussion and lower-midrange vocals.
The pair provides physical left-right stereo separation and uses an integrated amplifier capable of delivering 100W RMS sustained power, with up to 200W peak output.
According to measurements taken using a UMIK-1 calibrated microphone and REW software at a distance of 1 metre, the Aura 5 delivers a frequency response ranging from 35Hz to 20kHz at ±3dB. The system reaches a sustained sound pressure level of 105dB while maintaining total harmonic distortion below 1%. Bass output extends to 35Hz at 80dB, allowing the speakers to produce deeper low-frequency impact without necessarily requiring a separate subwoofer.
Signal Processing and DGS Audio Tuning
For digital playback, the built-in DAC supports bit-perfect lossless audio at up to 24-bit/48kHz. The DAC uses an isolated, low-noise analogue power rail that is separated from the digital and switching circuitry to help minimise background electrical interference.
Lumio has also included its proprietary DGS digital signal processing profiles, with each mode tuned for a different listening environment:
- DGS Studio: Provides a neutral, reference-oriented sound profile intended for music playback, vocal tracking, and podcasts.
- DGS Cinema: Boosts upper-frequency information and spatial cues to improve dialogue clarity and create a more cinematic presentation.
- DGS Groove: Enhances the low-frequency range for electronic music and rhythm-focused genres.
Connectivity, DSP Control, and Interface
The Lumio Aura 5 offers seven audio input options, allowing it to be used with televisions, desktop systems, and conventional audio equipment.
- For living room and TV setups, the speakers include HDMI ARC with HDMI-CEC, enabling synchronised power and volume control through compatible TV remotes. A standard TOSLink Optical input is also provided.
- Desktop and digital sources can be connected through USB Type-A, which supports PC audio mode as well as direct FLAC and MP3 playback from flash storage. A digital Coaxial input is included for CD transports.
- For analogue sources, the system features an AUX (RCA) input compatible with external phono stages, turntables, media players, and mobile devices.
- Wireless connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.4 with SBC codec support and an operating range of up to 8 metres.
Controls and Companion App
The system comes with the Minion OLED Bluetooth remote, which features an integrated display for showing the active audio source and selected DSP mode.
The primary speaker also includes physical analogue knobs for Bass, Treble, and Volume. These controls are processed by the integrated DSP in real time without introducing additional latency.
Lumio is also preparing a companion Aura application for Android and iOS, which is scheduled to arrive through a future software update.

Pricing and Availability
The Lumio Aura 5 is priced at ₹24,999 and will be available through Amazon India. The speakers will go on sale as part of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, with an introductory early-bird price of ₹19,999 starting October 15, along with applicable partner bank discounts.
Lumio is offering a 1-year comprehensive warranty for the speaker pair, while the Minion OLED remote comes with 6 months of warranty coverage. Customer support will be provided through on-site home service, backed by the company’s network of more than 300 authorised service centres across India.
