realme has launched its latest smartphone in the number series, the realme 16 5G in India, following earlier teasers. Aimed at younger users, the device highlights high-resolution portrait imaging, a large battery, and a slim, lightweight design.
Camera Details -
The realme 16 5G features a dual 50MP camera setup enhanced by a range of AI-powered photography and video tools.
- Rear Camera - A 50MP Sony IMX852 (1/2.93-inch) sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus support.
- Front Camera - A 50MP sensor optimized for both solo and group portraits.
The phone also includes a rear selfie mirror to help users frame shots using the primary camera, complemented by an Aura Ring Flash for improved lighting. Hands-free capture is supported through voice countdown and “Say Hi” gesture recognition.
On the software side, it utilizes the LumaColor IMAGE engine, previously seen on the realme 16 Pro, and introduces Vibe Master Mode for customizable mood presets. AI Edit Genie powers post-processing features such as AI Inspiration, AI StyleMe, and AI LightMe. For video content, AI Instant Clip can automatically generate short highlight clips from selected photos and videos.
Design and Build -
The device follows what realme calls its “Air Design” philosophy, aiming to balance a high-capacity battery with a relatively slim and lightweight build through optimized internal component stacking. It measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs 183g.
The phone features a 6.57-inch compact display with a narrow 2.23mm bottom bezel. On the rear, it adopts a horizontal camera bar layout and showcases a “Gleaming Wings” blue-gold gradient finish. The surface is treated with a fine sand texture and a curved anti-fingerprint coating to minimize smudges.

- Battery - A 7000mAh unit supported by realme’s Titan Long-Life Algorithm, designed to retain at least 80% battery health after 1,600 charge cycles.
- Charging - 60W fast charging is claimed to deliver 50% charge in 30 minutes and a full charge in 74 minutes. The device also supports bypass charging to reduce heat during heavy usage, along with reverse charging functionality.
- Durability - The realme 16 5G carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications for water and dust resistance.
Software -
The smartphone runs realme UI 7.0, featuring the Flux Engine for AI-driven resource optimization and smoother performance. The company also promises a 72-month fluency protection plan to ensure long-term stability.
