REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ launched with 6.85-inch 1.5K 185Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC, Air + liquid cooling, 8400mAh battery

REGMAGIC has launched its latest e-sports flagship smartphone, the REGMAGIC 12 Pro+ in China, as previously promised. The company has also introduced a special variant called the REGMAGIC 12 Pro+ Golden Saga Limited Edition, featuring 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

Design and Display

The REGMAGIC 12 Pro+ continues the brand’s signature mecha-inspired design with a transparent rear panel. Its chassis features a flat rear profile optimized for landscape gaming, along with an integrated lens cover designed to provide scratch resistance while maintaining light transmission.

The transparent rear enclosure reveals the integrated dual-ring liquid cooling system, complemented by a centrally positioned RGB light ring. The smartphone is available in Deuterium Transparent Night, Deuterium Transparent Silver Wing, and Deuterium Transparent Ice Blue color options.

On the front, REGMAGIC has partnered with BOE to develop a true full-screen display featuring ninth-generation under-display camera technology. The panel has 0.96mm bezels and supports an industry-first native refresh rate of 185Hz, while remaining backward-compatible with 165Hz. It also incorporates an independent G1 display chip manufactured using a 22nm process and X11 luminescent material.

Touch input is managed by a Synaptics Byrd touch controller running the MagicTouch 4.0 algorithm. The system delivers a global touch sampling rate of 500Hz and an instantaneous sampling rate of up to 5,000Hz. The display also features SGS-certified Star Shield Eye Protection Technology 2.0. A 16MP under-display camera, supported by anti-glare algorithms, handles facial authentication, video calls, and selfies.

Processing Hardware and Performance

The REGMAGIC 12 Pro+ employs a dual-chip architecture combining the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process with clock speeds reaching 5GHz, and the company’s proprietary Red Core R5 co-processor.

According to REGMAGIC, the main platform achieves an AnTuTu benchmark score of 5,670,006, alongside a claimed 44% improvement in GPU performance. The dedicated R5 chip handles touch calibration, lighting effects, frame tracking, and display upscaling to enhance the gaming experience.

For graphics performance, the smartphone introduces full-scene hardware-accelerated ray tracing support across six initial game titles. These capabilities can operate simultaneously with super-resolution and frame-generation technologies. The platform supports gameplay at 185Hz in CrossFire: Mobile, combined 2K resolution and 185Hz enhancements in 10 titles, and frame-rate enhancement features across more than 200 games.

The updated REGMAGIC PC emulator adds Steam Workshop integration, customizable key mappings, and achievement tracking. Under Ubisoft-certified testing, the emulator reportedly maintained 60.1 FPS in Tomb Raider 9 and 120 FPS in Far Cry 3.

The REGMAGIC 12 Pro+ has also been selected as the official tournament smartphone for five competitive gaming circuits: the League of Legends Mobile Super League, Dark Zone Masters, CFML Professional League, CODM Masters Cup, and QQ Speed Mobile S League.

Thermal Management and Battery

The smartphone features the ICE Magic Cooling System, which combines active air cooling, liquid cooling, and passive heat-dissipation materials to manage temperatures during intensive gaming.

• Air Cooling: The Wind Chaser 5.0 cooling fan operates at speeds of up to 25,500 rpm. It uses a magnetic levitation bearing and features IPX8-rated water resistance.
• Liquid Cooling: A dual-crystal micro-pump delivers an output pressure of 130kPa while consuming 20mW of power. It circulates fluorinated dielectric fluid through a dual-ring channel designed to operate across temperatures ranging from -60°C to 108°C.
• Passive Cooling Materials: The system incorporates a Liquid Metal 4.0 composite interface, a 4D Ice-Step vapor chamber, and ultra-thin aerospace steel graphene layers.

Despite its extensive cooling hardware, the device measures approximately 8.5mm thick and houses a large 8,400mAh battery. Charging options include 120W wired fast charging with support for PD, PPS, QC, and DCP standards, along with 80W wireless charging. Direct bypass charging is also available to minimize heat generation during extended gaming sessions.

Gaming Controls, Software, and Connectivity

For gaming controls, the REGMAGIC 12 Pro+ features 700Hz capacitive shoulder triggers with micro-motion feedback. Audio is delivered through dual symmetrical 1115E stereo speakers. The smartphone also incorporates dedicated gaming network acceleration algorithms designed to reduce connection jitter and latency during online gameplay.

The device runs REDMAGIC OS 12, which introduces several software enhancements, including the Magic Island notification interface, an upgraded AI assistant, cross-application memory tools, contextual AI writing and transcription capabilities, and One-Touch Transfer for file compatibility with Apple iOS devices.

The bundled HyperGen Gaming Space and X Gravity Platform 3.0 provide additional gaming features, including peripheral mapping, low-latency screen casting at 8K 60Hz or 4K 144Hz, and integrated training utilities.
