Xiaomi has launched its latest smartphone in the K90 series, the REDMI K90 Max in China, following earlier teasers. The smartphone brings active cooling technology to the brand’s portfolio, along with a suite of high-end specifications aimed at performance and gaming.
Design and Build Quality -
The REDMI K90 Max features an aluminum alloy frame with ultra-slim bezels and a clean, minimalist grille that houses its internal cooling system.

It is offered in Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue colour options. In terms of durability, the device incorporates an all-metal structural design and carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Xiaomi also notes that the internal components have undergone a 50,000-hour aging test.
Active Cooling System -
One of the standout aspects of the REDMI K90 Max is its integrated cooling fan, a first for Xiaomi smartphones. The device uses a dedicated sealed air duct system for thermal management.

Key highlights of the cooling setup include:
- Fan size: An 18.1mm fan, around 6% larger than typical smartphone cooling fans
- Design: Vertical air intake paired with forward-tilted blades for pressurized airflow
- Airflow performance: Delivers 0.42 CFM, approximately 1.3× higher than competing solutions
- Air duct system: Features a vortex-simulated airflow channel to reduce turbulence, achieving 78.6% airflow efficiency
- Cooling efficiency: Capable of lowering device temperature by up to 10°C within 100 seconds in high-speed mode (as per Xiaomi’s data)
- Noise levels: Includes three fan modes, with a peak noise output of 32dB
According to Xiaomi, this system helps sustain stable frame rates over extended gaming sessions compared to rival devices.
Hardware and Performance -
The REDMI K90 Max is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. For enhanced graphics and gaming performance, it is paired with an AI-based discrete GPU, the D2.
The device offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It supports simultaneous 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate across a wide range of supported games.
