Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch of its next smartphone in the REDMI Turbo lineup, the REDMI Turbo 5 Max in China, the successor to last year’s Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro. The device is set to debut in China by the end of January.
According to the teaser, the launch is framed as “The 2026 mid-range performance battle” with the tagline “Beginning is the end.” Xiaomi’s smartphone chief, Lu Weibing, stated that the REDMI Turbo 5 Max aims to be the best-performing smartphone in the 2,500 yuan price segment for 2026.
Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station claims that the REDMI Turbo 5 Max will be the first phone to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s chipset. The processor is said to come with a full-scale large cache and a powerful GPU, with performance expected to rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Dimensity 9500s is reportedly a refreshed version of the Dimensity 9400+.
In addition, the phone is tipped to pack a massive battery, support 100W fast charging, offer the fastest reverse charging in its segment, and feature a fully loaded camera setup.
For reference, the REDMI Turbo 4 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC and houses a 7,550mAh (typical) battery with 90W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse fast charging. It was launched in India as the POCO F7 in mid-2025. However, there is currently no information on the POCO F8, following the recent global launch of the POCO F8 Pro and POCO F8 Ultra.
