Samsung has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones within the S24 series, namely the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra – an AI-powered smartphone at its Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event in the global market, including India, as previously promised. The Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a 6.8-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display with a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a brightness of up to 2600 nits, surpassing its predecessor.
As for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, they sport 6.2-inch FHD+ / 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O flat displays with a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, but with an enhanced brightness of up to 2600 nits. These phones are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, an upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in the previous model. However, the same country will receive Samsung's latest Exynos 2400 SoC in the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus.
Build and Software Features -
The Galaxy S24 Ultra features a larger vapor chamber cooling system, which is now 1.9 times larger than the S23 Ultra. For the first time, the phone features a titanium frame and a notably slimmer body, measuring just 8.6mm. The battery incorporates a minimum of 50% recycled cobalt, while the speakers utilize 100% recycled rare earth elements and a minimum of 40% recycled steel. Furthermore, the side and volume keys consist of at least 10% pre-consumer recycled TPU. In addition, each Galaxy S24 is packaged in a box crafted from 100% recycled paper material.
According to the company, the Corning Gorilla Armor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra undergoes optical enhancement, resulting in a significant reduction in reflections—up to 75%—across various lighting conditions. This ensures a seamless and comfortable viewing experience. Equipped with an in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner, they run on the latest Android 14 with OneUI 6.1 and will get seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the first time.
The Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 are equipped with an Armor Aluminum frame. Notably, the Galaxy S24 incorporates elements crafted from recycled cobalt and rare earth elements, marking the first time in the Galaxy S series. It also introduces recycled steel and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) in its design. Furthermore, each Galaxy S24 is packaged in a box made entirely from recycled paper material.
Galaxy AI features -
The Galaxy S24 series is equipped with Galaxy AI, which introduces features such as Live Translate for two-way, real-time voice and text translations during phone calls within the native app. It also includes an Interpreter feature, Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and a Circle to Search function driven by gestures.
Camera -
In terms of camera capabilities, the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a quad rear camera setup, including a new 200-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, adaptive pixel technology, super HDR, and pixel enhancer. It also features a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide Lens with a 120-degree field of view, a 10-megapixel Telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and a new 50MP Periscope lens supporting 5x zoom, along with 100x digital zoom and a 3D ToF sensor.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus sport a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel Dual Pixel primary sensor with OIS, a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide Lens with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10-megapixel Telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. These phones also include a new 12-megapixel Dual Pixel front-facing camera with an AI object-aware engine, supporting 8K 30 fps video shooting.
During video recording, both front and rear cameras on the Galaxy S24 Ultra are furnished with a Dedicated ISP Block for noise reduction. The device utilizes gyro information analysis to differentiate between the movement of the person recording and that of the subject. According to Samsung, this capability enhances noise removal, resulting in clear videos in low-light conditions, even from a distance.
The camera features are complemented by AI-powered tools, including Galaxy AI editing tools, Edit Suggestions, Generative Edit, and the introduction of the new Instant Slow-mo.
Battery and Charging -
The S24 Ultra is equipped with Ultra-wideband capabilities (UWB) and holds an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It retains a 5000mAh battery supporting 45W fast charging, 10W Qi wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with a built-in S Pen Stylus featuring Wacom tech.
Both phones also come with IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Galaxy S24 is powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, while the Galaxy S24 Plus features a 4900mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. Both phones also support 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
