It seems a Samsung VP has just let the cat out of the bag and has confirmed off-the-record that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be announced at MWC 2014. Another confirmation is added by Eldar Murtazin, whose claims have generally gone right also said in a tweet that the next generation Galaxy S5 will be unveiled at 6 PM Barcelona on February 23 with new TouchWiz UI and launch in April.

There has been a lot of speculation about the build as well as specifications of the Galaxy S5, including whether it will have a fingerprint sensor or an Iris sensor. Although there is no confirmation on that front, there are a few specifications that are more or less confirmed:

  • Display: 5.25-inch, QHD Super AMOLED, 2560 x 1440 pixels
  • OS: Android 4.4.2 KitKat with new TouchWiz Magazine UX
  • Processor: Snapdragon 800/ New Exynos 6 SoC
  • Memory: 3 GB RAM, 16/32 GB internal storage
  • Camera: 16 MP primary

There are rumors that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S5 in two variants, one with metal casing and another with plastic just like the S4. The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is also expected to employ new touch sensor from Synaptics which will give more functionality to Air Gestures by recognizing individual fingers as well as the palm to perform more than a single operation.

So, what would you like to see in the new Galaxy S5 apart from wacky software features?
