Sony is reportedly planning to launch a new camera-centric smartphone aimed at professionals. The upcoming device, likely to be named the Sony Xperia PRO-I, will follow the recent releases of the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI.

Leaked information from Insider Sony has disclosed key specifications and design details of the new Xperia PRO-I. This successor to the 2021 Xperia PRO-I might be named the Xperia Pro C. It is expected to feature professional-grade camera specs in a more compact design than its predecessor.

Design and Display -

The Xperia Pro C is rumored to sport a 6-inch OLED display with an anti-reflection coating, down from the previous 6.5-inch screen. The display will offer a 2K resolution, similar to the Xperia 1 VI, and will continue to incorporate ZEISS camera technology.

Camera Capabilities -

The Xperia Pro C is expected to feature a 1-inch 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 20mm focal length, and optical image stabilization. This main sensor will support RAW 12-bit and 14-bit DCG RAW shooting and may use an OmniVision sensor.

The phone is also likely to include -

  • A 12MP secondary camera with autofocus, capable of 4K recording at 120fps, a 10-bit 420 S-LOG gamma curve, and HLG recording. It may also support 60fps RAW recording, Sony S-Cine-tone, and Creative Look.
  • Another 12MP lens with a 20mm focal length, potentially supporting 4K 60fps HDR recording, though the zoom capabilities are not yet known.

Other Specifications -

The device is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Despite its smaller 6-inch screen, the new Xperia PRO model is anticipated to have a larger 5000mAh battery and a 45W PD fast charging solution. The Xperia Pro C is slated for a launch in Q4 2024.
