Top Smartphones Below Rs 5000

We have curated a list of the top smartphones under Rs. 5000, from our own and crowd-sourced reviews. Here's a look at the best budget smartphones and at the end we also have our own recommendation of the lot. The phones have been listed in random order.

1. Samsung Galaxy Star Duos

Its the cheapest Galaxy device from Samsung, but that doesn't necessarily translate into bad build or lack of features. The Galaxy Star Duos features 3-inch display, 1 GHz processor with 512MB RAM running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It was one of the first devices in the budget segment to be running Jelly Bean, but has a sub-par 2MP camera.

It has been selected in our list as it has good build quality and is backed by Samsung's after sales service, no wonder it has become one of the most popular Samsung smartphones in India. But its supports only 2G Networks on both SIM cards.

2. Nokia Asha 500

The Nokia Asha 500 is a newer incarnation of the Asha 501, with the new design language from Nokia which wraps the inner colorful plastic casing in a transparent shell. It gives a 3D appearance to the phone, making it look more appealing. The build here is better than the Asha 501 and it supports WhatsApp out-of-the-box. Like the Asha 501, the Asha 500 too is a dual SIM 2G phone.

But the display has been reduced to 2.8-inch from 3-inches on the Asha 501, which is not that much of a letdown as the resolution remains same at 240 x 320 pixels. The camera remains same at 2MP but it gets better at multitasking with Nokia FastLane.
