Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship smartphone in the 17 series, the Xiaomi 17 Max in China at its ecosystem launch event, following several teasers. The device is positioned as a premium large-screen flagship with a massive battery capacity.
The Xiaomi 17 Max sports a 6.9-inch ultra-narrow, four-sided flat display integrated into a four-curved wraparound frame with ultra-elliptical rounded corners.
Key Display Specifications
- Technology: The display uses SuperPixel technology, which Xiaomi claims delivers visual clarity comparable to a 2K panel while consuming less power than conventional 1.5K displays.
- Brightness: Equipped with M10 luminescent material, the “Super Sunlight Screen” offers up to 3,500 nits peak brightness.
- Durability: The screen is protected by third-generation Dragon Crystal Glass, which Xiaomi says improves drop resistance by up to 20 times.
- Refresh Rate & Dimming: It supports a 1Hz–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, features full-brightness DC-like dimming by default, and also includes an optional 2160Hz PWM dimming mode.
Battery and Charging
The Xiaomi 17 Max is claimed to offer the longest battery life ever on a Xiaomi smartphone. It packs an 8,000mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang Battery with 16% silicon content and an energy density of 894Wh/L.
The charging setup includes:
- Wired Charging: 100W fast charging with support for the 100W PPS protocol.
- Wireless Charging: 50W wireless fast charging support.
- Power Management: Surge P3 fast-charging and Surge G2 battery management chipsets are integrated for improved charging and battery efficiency.
Leica Camera System
The smartphone features a Leica-branded triple rear camera setup designed for high-resolution imaging and flexible shooting capabilities.
- Primary Camera: Xiaomi’s first Leica 200MP main sensor with a 1/1.4-inch optical format. It uses an ultra-high transmittance pyramid coating and supports 200MP multi-frame fusion computational photography.
- Telephoto Camera: A periscope telephoto lens with a 1/2-inch sensor offers a 3x “golden portrait” focal length, 6x optical lossless zoom, and macro shooting as close as 15cm.
- Video Features: The device supports high-definition live streaming with native ultra-HD 4K output.
Performance and Other Features
Powering the Xiaomi 17 Max is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform. For thermal management, Xiaomi has introduced a three-dimensional ring-shaped cold pump cooling system tailored for the phone’s large chassis. According to Xiaomi’s internal tests, the system maintained stable full-frame gameplay in Genshin Impact at maximum graphics settings for up to 5.7 hours.
Other notable features include stereo dual speakers, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and Xiaomi Star Communication connectivity.
