Unboxing

Karbonn A12+ is the latest entrant in the burgeoning dual-core entry level Android segment in India. It tries to differentiate from the flock with 512 MB RAM, while others in the same price bracket offer half that. The A12+ is powered by the MediaTek MT6572 1.3 Ghz dual-core processor with Mali 400 GPU, 4-inch WVGA (800x480 pixels) display and 5 megapixels primary camera with LED flash accompanied by a 2 megapixels front facing camera. There's 4 GB of internal storage and the Karbonn A12+ is available for about Rs. 4999 from online retailers.

In The Box

There are just the usual accessories inside the box, namely, the USB wall-charger, micro USB data-syncing and charging cable, the 1400 mAh battery, headset and the user guides. Considering this is a budget handset we didn't expect a free screenguard, but providing one would have made this a much sweeter deal.

First Impressions

The Karbonn A12+ has a grey color, instead of black that is advertised. However, it looks great and the black glass juxtaposed to the grey color makes the smartphone stylish. Then there's the metallic trim that runs along the sides of the device, which also make the device look premium. The physical buttons too have the same metallic finish as the trim, they don't creak and have surprisingly good travel. The power button has been placed at the top, and given the small size of the device its easy to reach, but we have become accustomed to the power button being on the right of the device.

As soon as you power on the device you are greeted to the beautiful 4-inch WVGA IPS display, which has great color reproduction albeit slightly saturated but with good viewing angles. The display seems to have good contrast levels which makes every color distinguishable. The phone zips along with its dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM. We are quite impressed with the device in terms of how it looks even though its a bit chunky. It has a sharp and bright display. Nevertheless, we'll be back with a detailed review of the Karbonn A12+ including display, camera samples, benchmarks, gaming review as well as other features. If you have any requests regarding a specific feature of the A12+ or want something particular to be included, just tell us in the comments below.
