The Micromax Canvas Fun A74 is the middle child in the Canvas Fun series and sports specs/price midway between the Canvas Fun A63 and A76 as well. The Canvas Fun A74 features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854x480 pixels) display which has both vibrant colors and good viewing angles. Its powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor, assisted by 512MB RAM and 4GB of expandable internal storage. The Canvas Fun A74 is available north of Rs. 7800 from various online retailers.

In The Box

Apart from the usual accessories, namely, the USB wall-charger, micro USB data-syncing and charging cable, the 1500 mAh battery, a white in-ear headset and the user guides, you also get a screen guard free in the box. The in-ear headset especially seems to be of good quality, and has flat tangle free cables.

First Impressions

When you first pick up the device it feels great due to the matte finished backcover, and the blue colored backcover also add a bit of a flair. In my opinion 4.5-inch is the perfect display size, 5-inches is just too big and 4 a bit small. The Canvas Fun A74 is quite easily pocketable and feels solid all the way. Apart from the "Mystic Blue" backcover everything else is black, including the speaker grill, earpiece, camera housing and the hardware buttons, namely the volume rocker and power button. There are three capacitive buttons at the base of the display, Home, Back and Menu.

If you focus on the design, it will make you feel that you have seen this before and the HTC 8X Windows Phone would jump right into your thoughts. This isn't a bad thing, the 8X is one of the best designs to come out of HTC. Although the hardware buttons are a bit hard to press, given that they lie towards the side where the body starts to curve in. The phone seems thinner than it is due to its tapering sides, again similar to the HTC 8X. But the solid backcover and good build quality does add a bit of weight.

The phone zips along on every task it is given with its 1.3 GHz dual-core processor, and 512MB RAM. We'll be back with a detailed review of the Micromax Canvas Fun A74 including display, camera samples, benchmarks, gaming review as well as other features.
