Bent Iphone 6 Plus

Yup, the iPhone 6 Plus bends when in your pocket and no, that's not a feature. iPhone 6 Plus owners took to twitter to vent out their apparent surprise to see their brand new $1000 smartphone with bends just south of the volume controls, creating a new "#BendGate" meme in the process. Its not something that people have tried to do, just by carrying the phone in their front pockets people have begun seeing a gentle slope to the device which was otherwise a flat surface.

Its not your tight jeans or the way "you are pocketing it is wrong." Its just an issue with the build materials. Apple uses aluminium which is malleable and a soft metal prone to being bent. Previous smaller iPhones were denser and thicker than the giant iPhone 6 Plus which makes the latter more prone to pressure. But Apple should have tested this, and once again the clear disregard for usability and common sense prevails.

Here's a video which shows how easy it is to bend the iPhone 6 Plus. If you were holding out on that bulky case for your new iThing, its better to get it now. Maybe its just Apple's way of saying to get off your butt.

Just to compare the same guy also did the bend test with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, see the results below.

Even with two tries, the Galaxy Note 3 just warps a little bit, but that's the difference in build materials. The use of the thin frame and aluminium on the iPhone 6 Plus doesn't help its cause. Samsung on the other hand is simply better at making large phones especially with a lot of R&D done in this field. Apple on the other hand, just wanted to make a large phone it seems.
