Jolla has launched its first handset, the Jolla, running Sailfish OS in India priced at Rs. 16,499 exclusively on Snapdeal. Spec-wise, Jolla is asking a much higher price as you get a 4.5-inch qHD display, dual-core Snapdragon processor with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage which is expandable. The only saving grace of the new platform is that it can run Android apps.
You do have the now standard 8 MP/ 2 MP camera combination available on the Jolla. Before you write it off, the Jolla does have a unique design especially the way its back and front are made. The back-cover is called the other half which can be used to add more functionality, like wireless charging and the likes. Connectivity options are aplenty with 4G LTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS with GLONASS but it is a single-SIM device and comes with only a 2100 mAh battery.
Priced at Rs. 16,499 and its exclusivity to Snapdeal will definitely hinder sales in India. There are a few offers in store, which might have already expired. The first 90 customers are supposed to get a VIP box which comes with 3 NFC enabled back-covers worth about Rs. 7000. Are you interested in Jolla or Sailfish OS with its gesture input ?
