At its recently concluded event where Apple launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the company also announced the launch of iOS 8 for September 17 and right on cue it is now available for iPhones, iPads and the iPod Touch.
iOS 8 is available for the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 5th gen, iPad Air, iPad with Retina display, iPad Mini with Retina display, iPad Mini, and iPad 2. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will come with iOS 8 pre-installed.
iOS 8 is not such a major overhaul as iOS 7 but it does bring support for widgets, actionable notifications and extensions alongwith support for the new Apple Watch. You can check for updates by going into Settings->General->Software Update. Alternatively you can also fire up iTunes.
