Google today announced its budget Android One smartphones programme in India with the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno Mi-498. All three are now available through Amazon, Snapdeal and Flipkart respectively.
The Android One smartphones feature the same specs, including a quad-core MediaTek MT6582M chipset, 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 1 GB RAM running Android 4.4.4 KitKat with regular updates from Google, 5 MP primary and 2 MP front camera. All this for about Rs. 6399. You are basically getting the Micromax Unite 2 for a bit less.
Micromax Canvas A1 is available from Amazon.in for Rs. 6499, while the Spice Dream Uno Mi-498 comes in at Rs. 6299 from Flipkart and Karbonn Sparkle V is now also available from Snapdeal but for Rs. 6399. With Karbonn and Spice Android One smartphones you will also get a free 8 GB microSD card and all three will get Airtel data offer with free software updates and app downloads for 6 months. With software updates available at a regular basis, this could turn out to be a hit in the market. The current leader of the segment is still the Moto E, but these sure do pack a punch especially with Google's Android One push.
