Dell just unveiled two new android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean tablets, the Venue 7 and Venue 8. What's different about these new tablets is that while most Android tablets are based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset, Dell has decided to trust long time partner Intel with its new dual-core Atom Z2560 and Z2560 processors.
Venue 7
The Venue 7 has a 7-inch 1280 x 800 pixels WXGA IPS display, with Intel's 1.6 Ghz dual-core Atom Z2560 processor. There's 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage which is expandable using a microSD card. There's a VGA front facing camera alongwith a 3 megapixel primary camera. The tablet runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and given that the world is starting to move to Android 4.2 its a bit disappointing. But the tablet weighs just 234 grams and is quite thin at 9.6mm, which makes it apt for single handed use. There's a 4100 mAh battery non removable battery pack which keeps the juice flowing.
Venue 8
The Venue 8 has a 8-inch WXGA display with Intel's 2.0 Ghz dual-core Atom Z2580 processor with 2 GB RAM and 16/32 GB storage options which is expandable using a microSD card. There's a 5 megapixel primary camera and 2 MP front camera for video calls. It has the same 4100 mAh battery pack as the Venue 7 and at 292 grams with 9.8mm thickness isn't that much heftier than the Venue 7 as well. The Venue 8 just like its brother too has an optional micro-SIM card slot to access 3G/4G data on the move. Meaning there will be Wi-FI only and Wi-Fi + 3G/4G variants available at launch.
In terms of connectivity both tablets feature Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n and GPS. Dell also announced a Windows 8 tablet the Venue 8 Pro which is detailed here.
