HTC Desire EYE with 13 MP front and rear cameras, 5.2-inch 1080p display goes official

HTC Desire EYE, the oft-leaked selfie phone has just gone official. It features a 13 MP primary camera with LED flash, 5.2-inch full-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor running Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense UI on top. There's a 13 MP rear camera as well with dual-LED flash, wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture.

HTC has also added its own camera expertise to the mix, dubbed EYE Experience which helps the front cam track upto 4 faces and keeps them in focus while shooting. Zoe has also come of age with v1.0 and brings the ability to capture short, medium or long zoes which can be made with just a couple of images or videos. There's dual stereo speakers (HTC BoomSound) in the front with in-built amplifiers but they are barely visible being close to the bezel. You also have 3 microphones for enhanced noise-reduction.


HTC has added several other enhancements to its camera experience on the phone with Split Screen sharing, Split images or videos with both cameras at the same time, Face Fusion, Live Makeup, Auto Selfie, Voice Selfie, Photo Booth and Crop Me in.  The HTC Desire EYE is water resistant with IP67 rating and comes with dual-color body.

Other specs include 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of expandable storage and a 2400 mAh battery. Connectivity options include optional 4G LTE support, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, NFC and GPS with GLONASS. Remarlably the HTC Desire Eye is just 8.5 mm thin and weighs in at about 154 grams.


HTC will start shipping the Desire EYE in two colors Coral Reef and Blue Lagoon, to EMEA, Asia and the US later in October.
