Htc Re Camera

Alongwith the Desire EYE, HTC had something more to show. The HTC RE action camera, which takes on a completely new segment in the market which is gutsy to say the least. HTC RE is an action camera with 16 MP CMOS sensor wrapped in a bend cylindrical tube. The first comparison you would find to the $199 HTC RE is GoPro, you know the camera in a box which has become a rage online.

If you are unaware of the category, action cameras are generally used for sports, underwater or adventure photography or videos. The HTC RE is a step in that direction and comes with a unique design, while the Go-Pro is a more traditional rectangular camera the RE is a cylindrical tube which reminds me of an inhaler.

The camera shutter key is on the bend which allows you to click photos with a single press and long clicking it records videos. Its really quite easy to use, just point on a subject and begin recording and being a 146-degree wide angle lens, you will capture much more detail than just the subject. There's no viewfinder, mind you. There's a button in the front of the HTC RE which allows you to record slow motion videos upto 720p at 120 FPS.

The RE camera is equipped with a microSD card slot to save photos and videos to. Everything about the RE camera including shooting modes, time lapse and media settings can be set with the RE app available on Android and iOS. It connects to your smartphone through WiFi Direct. HTC also threw in YouTube live stream with its Re-app as coming soon alongwith Instagram and Tencent support.

Htc Re Announced

HTC has jumped into a new business with the RE camera and shows that the company is aiming to bounce back into the tech sphere even though it might be struggling in the smartphone race. With declining margins, use of cheaper materials companies like Samsung might prevail in the smartphone ecosystem but a company that keeps RE-inventing itself will survive in the end than the dinosaurs that prevailed.
