Oppo R5

Oppo R5 is now officially the world's thinnest smartphone at just 4.85mm. In an event in Singapore the Oppo R5 was unveiled with the new flagship Oppo N3. The Oppo R5 is no slouch when it comes to specs either, there's a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED display and its powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU running Android 4.4 KitKat with Color OS 2.0 Skin. More notably apart from its ridiculously thin frame, Oppo has managed to cram in a 2000 mAh battery in there.

There's a 13 MP camera at the back with LED flash and a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera is also available. There's a lot Oppo has to say about the build of the device, include the use of liquid metal inside the frame which is made of stainless steel and is hand polished. But I still wonder, wouldn't this phone just bend in my pocket given its thinner than your average pencil.

Here's a rundown of the key specs of the Oppo R5:

  • 5.2-inch Full-HD AMOLED display
  • 1.5 GHz Octa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939
  • Adreno 405 GPU
  • 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory
  • Color OS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 4.85mm thick
  • 13MP Rear Camera, LED Flash, Sony IMX214 Sensor, Schneider Lens
  • 5MP Front-camera
  • 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS
