Samsung today has launched the premium Galaxy Alpha in India. Often criticized for its use of cheap plastic in phones, Samsung decided to do something about it and gave the Galaxy Alpha a metal frame with chamfered edges. Being a premium smartphone it has been priced at Rs. 39,990.

It comes with a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 5 Octa 5430 processor (1.8GHz quad-core Cortex A51 + 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7), 2 GB RAM running Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz. The Galaxy Alpha packs high-end specs in a relatively compact package specially considering that the Galaxy Alpha measures just 6.7mm in thickness. There's a 12 MP rear camera alongwith a 2.1 MP front-facing unit. You get 32 GB of non-expandable storage alongwith a rather small 1860 mAh battery.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and GPS. The Galaxy Alpha also has a finger-print sensor embedded within the home button and a heart-rate monitor at the back just like the Galaxy S5.
