Samsung updates Galaxy S4 I9505 with Android 4.3, bringing OpenGL 3.0 and Galaxy Gear support

Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 43 Update

Users of the International version of the Galaxy S4 I9505 can now rejoice, Samsung has begun seeding Android 4.3 update which brings a whole lotta changes especially Galaxy Gear support. Most of the updates are concentrated on the new TouchWiz UI rather than the OS. The update has begun rolling out OTA in Germany, you can also check Samsung Kies to see if you can have a tethered update.


Here's a changelog for Android 4.3 on the Samsung Galaxy S4:

  • GALAXY GEAR Support
  • TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
  • ANT+ Support
  • Samsung KNOX Implementation (KNOX bootloader and dedicated application)
  • Samsung Wallet comes pre-loaded
  • Improved RAM management
  • Improved Display color reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before)
  • Improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag)
  • New Samsung Keyboard
  • New Samsung Browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more)
  • New Reading Mode (Optimizes display for reading, used by only a few specific applications)
  • New Camera firmware
  • Minor UI tweaks (Contacts app, Flashlight Widget, dialog boxes etc)

Samsung has also laid out plans to update the rest of its flagship devices, the galaxy S III will get updated to Android 4.3 next month with the Note II to follow suit in December.
