Its primary objective is Aadhaar based authentication and providing developers with open APIs to interact with the system and integrate it with their own apps. To that end, you have a 7-inch (1024x600 Pixels) display and it runs on a quad-core processor, Android 5.0 Lollipop with Samsung KNOX suite of apps/services for security.

There's 1.5GB RAM on offer, 8GB internal storage which is expandable upto 200GB and USB OTG support as well. You also have a 5MP AF rear camera in addition to the dual-eye Iris camera sensor. There is support for 3G built-in to make it a completely standalone device without the need for any addons for biometric authentication.
