Vivo India has officially launched its latest upper-midrange smartphone in the V-Series lineup, the vivo V80 in India, as previously announced. Designed with mobile content creators in mind, the smartphone combines ZEISS co-engineered cameras with dedicated photography and video features, along with a range of AI-powered editing tools. The V80 also brings upgrades in battery capacity and durability compared with previous V-Series models.
Imaging System and AI Features
The vivo V80 features a camera system co-engineered with ZEISS, with a strong focus on portrait photography and video recording.
- 50MP ZEISS Night Telephoto Camera: The rear camera setup includes a 50MP ZEISS Night Telephoto Camera based on the Sony IMX882 sensor. It supports OIS, 3x optical zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom. The camera also offers up to 10x zoom in portrait mode.
- Multifocal Portrait: Users can choose from five portrait focal lengths—23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm. These are complemented by ZEISS bokeh simulations for different portrait effects.
- 50MP ZEISS Group Selfie Camera: The front camera is a 50MP ZEISS Group Selfie Camera with autofocus, a 92° field of view, and facial-contouring algorithms designed to enhance group selfies.
- 4K Video Recording: The smartphone can record 4K video at up to 60fps and offers three cinematic color profiles: Modern Movie, Vibrant, and Pastel.
The camera system is further supported by several AI-based tools. These include an AI Creative Camera with more than 30 preset visual styles, AI Diwali Portrait 2.0 for festive-themed photography, and AI Retouch, which enables features such as background expansion, object removal, and object repositioning.
Hardware and Display
The vivo V80 is powered by Qualcomm’s 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform. It is backed by a 7,200mAh battery, the largest battery capacity offered on a V-Series smartphone so far. The battery supports 90W wired FlashCharge technology.
The smartphone sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. The screen is surrounded by slim 0.125cm bezels.
For durability and design, the phone features a cold-carved glass rear panel combined with a high-strength aluminum alloy frame. It measures 0.76cm in thickness and weighs 203 grams. The device also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against water and dust.
Software
The vivo V80 is the first smartphone in the V-Series to come with OriginOS 7 pre-installed. The software includes the Origin Smooth Engine for performance optimization, Snap Note for converting photographed text into editable notes, and vivo Office Kit for multi-device productivity and workflows. vivo has also confirmed six years of security updates for the smartphone.
